I tie a wide variety of flies based on classic patterns, but love to add my own innovations based on experiences on the water and observation.

Nothing takes the place of persistence except for Shagworthy Flies! - Rich

"Shagworthy is the official fly provider for Hot Buttered Rum String Band. Whenever possible, we bring him on tour as our full-time fly fishing tying tech. While we are onstage playing bluegrass, Chris is in the back of the bus tying flies for the next morning's adventure. The flies just look tasty and the trout agree!"

-Nat Keefe, guitarist of HBR

On a serious note, I had the pleasure of taking Nat out for some fishing before Hot Buttered Rum's 2024 Chautauqua show in Boulder. It was great to reciprocate for the many hours of enjoying HBR on stage beginning way back in Florida at Magnolia Fest in the early 2000s and through their recent shows at the Louisville Street Faire when I first gave Nat and the boys some Shagworthy flies as a payback. I look forward to the next time we can swap stories, explore some rivers, and rip some lips.

If you don't know HBR, please check them out at here and enjoy this video of Cherry Lake, one of their best fishing tunes!
